Designing for Sustainability
Smurfit-Stone’s proprietary META box design shows consistent advantage over RSCs on the Wal-Mart scorecard. One chemical products customer recently improved their Wal-Mart Weighted Score by 1.1 by switching to META. While such improvement comes primarily from reduction in fiber, there is also a greenhouse gas emission advantage to META (0.0001 contribution to the weighted score in this case).
