Community Commitments
Looking to both business and consumer “communities” and both globally and locally, Smurfit-Stone contributes to social sustainability through a range of commitments.
First, we actively promote broader commercial public awareness of sustainable business practices through our membership in the World Business Council for Sustainable Development. This organization provides a platform for companies to explore sustainable development, share knowledge, experiences and best practices, and to advocate business positions on these issues in a variety of forums, working with governments, non-governmental and intergovernmental organizations.
Additionally, Smurfit-Stone is committed to hiring, developing and retaining the most diverse and talented employees. By attracting, developing, rewarding, and retaining top talent, we capitalize on the differences and uniqueness of our employees, suppliers, and the communities in which we operate.
