Safety is our number one priority. We believe that all accidents are preventable and that everyone is responsible for safety! Smurfit-Stone has led the industry in safety performance every year since 2001. 2007 marked the safest year in our company’s history as we achieved a recordable case rate (RCR) of 1.05, exceeding our previous best mark of 1.15, recorded in 2006.

12) What opportunities for training and development will I have?
Smurfit-Stone offers a variety of in-house training opportunities, including (but not limited to) classes in leadership, teamwork, managing conflict, customer service and a variety of technical courses. In addition to regular performance reviews, each employee participates in an annual review with their supervisor during which they set goals and prepare a developmental plan for the upcoming year.
